Back To The Images

There is no secret that I love the sea. I have a fascination dating back to the very earliest realms of my childhood, maily down to my many holidays in my parents caravan; the odd weekend in Weston here, a few days in Scarborough there, a few weeks touring Scotland… etc. It also helped that my Aunt and Uncle ran a hotel in Tenby so we would go down there fairly often too. But wherever we went a boat trip had to be made or at the very least, a paddle in the water.

This self initiated work is in a sense, me trying to recapture that notion of childhood and the idea of being fascinated and lost all at the same time. The sea is a monster, calm one minute and rough the next. Having claimed many lives since the dawn of mankind, it is still the only place on earth we know hardly anything about. From the smallest dinghy to the largest vessel, man has conquered ways of travelling over it, and to an extent, it takes a perfectionist to master the art of surfing it.

These images will be added to over time, but to get the project underway, I thought I would share the beginnings with you.

Sweep me up and take me with you
To see the things that stand before you
Show me all this world has for me
I want all the light can show me
I can only be what I can see
Carry me home, carry me home
You old sea spray
